ASHEVILLE, N.C. — — The construction of a new indoor stadium is set to begin next month at North Carolina State University.
The university says the facility, which will be built in the state’s Greensboro suburb of Cary, will host games in 2021.
The stadium is expected to be completed by late 2021.
The facility is expected cost $1.7 billion.NC State athletic director Dave Hartfield says the stadium will be a major development for the university.
“We have a lot of work to do,” Hartfield said.
“We are looking forward to having the new facility as our home.”
The construction of the stadium is one of many facilities that NC State has on the drawing board.
Hartfield has made a number of major investments in athletics over the last two years, including a $1 billion football facility.
