A new asbestos shingles replacement project is underway in the UK.
In the UK, the government is installing an asbestos removal barge at the Port of Dover.
The barge is expected to start operating in 2019, with an estimated cost of £1 billion ($1.2 billion).
“This is a big step forward in terms of removing asbestos, but the first stage will be to put the asbestos in place,” Andrew Withers, from the UK’s Department of Environment, said.
“We’re looking at putting it in place in 2019.”
The shingle is being built to replace the old shingle in the shingling section of the Port Dover Dockyard.
A contractor, Covington Engineering, was contracted to build the barge, which will cost around £1.8 billion ($2.4 billion).
The shingle, which was installed in the 1970s, was estimated to be worth £1 million ($1,300) per square foot.
“It’s not something that’s a lot of people would want to spend money on,” Withers said.
“If they had it, they would probably be using it for their garden.
It’s not a big investment.”
But people would say, ‘well, why is that shingle going to be there?'”

According to the BBC, the asbestos removal process has a cost of around £2.5 billion ($3.5 million).
